Background
Holly Welker is a fourth-generation native Arizonan who lives and writes in the Tucson area. She has an MFA in poetry from the University of Arizona, and an MFA in nonfiction and a PhD in English literature from the University of Iowa. She has edited two collections of essays published by the University of Illinois Press. Her work has appeared in such publications as Best American Essays, The Iowa Review, Poetry International, Slate, and the New York Times.
